Exam Structure

The Sarbabharatiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad has a well-organized, year-based examination system, meticulously designed to test both theoretical knowledge and practical skill.
Examinations are held every year, and the courses are divided from Pre-Primary-1 (PP–1) to 7th Year, enabling students to progress steadily as their abilities mature. Each level introduces a new depth of study, from basic exercises to sophisticated performance and compositional analysis.
The organization is as follows in general: PP–1 to PP–3 (Pre-Primary Stages): Foundation levels that cover basic theory, conventions, notation, rhythm (taal), and easy practical work. These are the introductory stages for beginners, focusing on foundational techniques and building a strong base.
Primary to 2nd Year: Middle stages with emphasis on the development of repertoire, clarity of tone, expression, and improvisation. Students build upon fundamentals with simple compositions, ragas, and rhythmic cycles.
3rd to 5th Year: Advanced training with more concentration on classical pieces, intricate artworks, ragas or dance pieces, and in-depth theoretical study. These provide a deeper engagement with form, expression, and improvisation.
6th and 7th Year: The climax of the academic course, similar to a graduate qualification. Students give full-length performances and written reports reflecting command, imagination, and comprehension of the tradition. The final year is equivalent to a Bachelor’s level, emphasizing mastery, performance, and theoretical understanding.
The examination in each year has two parts- Practical and Theoretical. The Practical section assesses performance, rhythm, and presentation, whereas the Theory element tests familiarity with terminology, notation, history, and stylistic features.
All tests are done under supervision by appointed moderators and examiners to ensure fairness and consistency of standards in all centres. Successful students get official certificates and diplomas approved countrywide; an accolade that establishes both their commitment and genius.
In the Parishad’s philosophy, tests are not simply tests, but milestones along a lifetime process of sadhana (practice); a gentle unfolding of the artist’s inner rhythm and voice.
